Concealing Dark Circles on your Wedding Day

I'm a busy working mum to a 1yr old so dark circles are something I have to deal with daily! I've also recently been a bride myself so I know how virtually impossible it is to get a good night’s sleep the night before your wedding day! If it's not the Christmas eve kind of excitement stopping you from drifting off into the ideal 8-hour slumber it's the sudden panic that you've missed Great Aunt Anne or Cousin James off of the table plan, or that you haven't triple checked you have enough favours, or, even worse, the fear that one of your suppliers just doesn't turn up! So let me help you with one less thing to worry about... dark circles on your wedding day! My experience working with brides as their make-up artist has taught me that above all brides want to look fresh faced and flawless on their special day, so visible dark circles are often one of their biggest concerns and whether I can cover them or not is something I get asked a lot. The answer is YES!

The Bobbi Brown Correctors are a must have in my bridal make up kit! With their warm pink/peachy tones, they neutralise the darkness that sneaks up under our eyes. A real wake up call for tired eyes! The correctors won't work alone as they are not natural skin tones so once I've corrected the colour I then go in with a concealer. One of my favourites is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer as it’s hydrating, lightweight, luminous finish keeps the skin looking dewy and not matte or cakey, diminishing fine lines and signs of fatigue! (Isn’t that what every bride wants?!)

Another of my bride’s concerns regarding dark circles is whether covering them up will then create another problem... FINE LINES! Using the wrong products or applying them in the wrong way leaves you in danger of adding years to your face! To avoid this, I prep the area using the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream. This cream is a cult favourite! It creates a beautifully soft, smooth base for a flawless finish, leaving your eyes feeling refreshed for up to 24 hours! The texture of the Bobbi Brown corrector is perfect for under eyes as it has a creamy texture that’s easy to blend and won’t crease.

Finally, you want feel confident those dark circles are going to remain hidden for the entirety of your wedding day, so I set the make up with a very fine powder. My favourite is the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder as it isn’t too matte and allows the natural glow and radiance of the skin to shine through.

Of course there are things you can do to make my job easier! Avoid alcohol for a few days before the wedding (especially the night before) if you can! Drink plenty of water, and why not treat yourself to a luxurious eye serum to use in the run up to the wedding? I love the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum, it helps reduce the look of fine lines, puffiness, dark circles whilst moisturising, brightening and evening skin tone.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it helps to get rid of one of those worries that may keep you up the night before your wedding... DARK CIRCLES!
